Cathedral Choir

The Cathedral Choir is a voluntary group that helps lead the congregation in worship on Sunday mornings. They are prayer leaders and help everyone lift up their hearts to God.

Choral Scholars

This is a ministry for and with area colleges, providing paid positions within the choir. Choral scholars have opportunity to prepare solos, sing with the Cathedral Choir, and do a study with the Choirmaster in a particular area of interest.

Howells Scholars

Our resident professional choir, compromised of musicians from across the Des Moines Metro area. They provide music at Cathedral Arts events, such as Choral Evensong.

If you are interested in joining our choirs, email Mark Babcock.

Organ

Our Casavant Organ, one of the largest organs in the state, has 68 ranks and 3,916 pipes. The largest pipe weighs 550 pounds!

The organ is played at both the 8:00 am and 10:00 am services each week and we have special organ concerts throughout the year.

Carillon

A carillon is a tower with many bells. In order to be considered a carillon, the bell tower must have 22 bells. Our carillon has 25 and is one of three carillons in the state of Iowa and the only carillon in Iowa located at a church.

You can view and learn more about our carillon in this news video from KCCI Channel 5.

We have carillon concerts every Sunday morning from 9:00 am - 9:30 am, which can be enjoyed from the safety of your car, or you may view them on our Facebook page.
